Database Codes

Here are the keys to the codes used in the downloadable lists:

Video:

LBX	Letterbox, will show black bars above and below picture on a 4:3 television
4:3	'Normal' Television aspect ratio of 1.33:1 or 1.37:1
16:9	Anamorphic
P&S	Pan and Scan
VAR	More than one format, usually box sets
UNK	Unknown, not Provided in studio technical specifications

Audio:

1.0	Mono	One Channel Mono, usually through the center speaker
1.1	Mono plus sub woofer	Center speaker and LFE channel
2.0 (mono)	two channel mono	The mono audio is driven to both front speakers. Usually shows as regular 2.0
2.0	Stereo	Dolby Stereo
3.0	Three channel	Front right and left, center
4.0	Four Channel Surround	Front and rear speakers, no center or LFE channels
DTS 4.0	DTS four channel	DTS version of 4.0 audio
4.1	Five Channel Surround	Like four channel with the LFE channel active
DTS 4.1	DTS five channel	DTS version of 4.1
5.0	Five Channel Surround	Front, center and rear channels, no LFE channel
5.1	Dolby 6 Channel	All six standard channels
DTS 5.0	DTS 5 channel	Like regular DTS without an LFE channel
DTS	Digital Theater Sound	DTS Six Channel Surround
6.1 ES	Seven Channel DTS	DTS form of discreet seven channel audio
6.0 ES	DTS Six Channel	Like DTS ES without an LFE channel
5.1 EX	Seven channel matrixed	Rear center channel is derived
6.1 EX	Seven Channel Dolby	Rear channel is discreet
SUR	Prologic Surround	Dolby Surround, Stereo Surround, requires Prologic decoder for matrixed rear audio
PCM	PCM Audio	Stereo, neither Dolby or DTS standard
DUB	Dubbed in English	Original language dialogue replaced with English
SUB	Subtitles	Original language with English subtitles
SIL	Silent Film	Often contains stereo track for background music
VAR	Various	More than one format, usually box sets
UNK	Unknown	Unknown, not Provided in studio technical specifications

Title additions:

Checkpoint	Point-of-sale security systems comprised of a small metal tag inserted into the DVD packaging to set off an alarm if passed through sensors without being deactivated, often has a unique UPC
Sensormatic	Point-of-sale security systems comprised of a small metal tag inserted into the DVD packaging to set off an alarm if passed through sensors without being deactivated, often has a unique UPC
Jewel Case	Like a CD case, usually clear plastic
Keep Case	All-plastic clamshell with clear vinyl pockets for inserts
Snapper Case	A paperboard case with a plastic lip
